Pilots often have a technical owner and a sponsor who liked the output. Production needs someone who will live with false positives, explain exceptions, and stop a release. Those roles are not implied by attendance at a showcase.
The practical move is to write the decision, the control owner, and the fallback before the environment looks like production. If that conversation cannot be had, the program is not ready to scale the model. It is ready to repeat the pilot.
Name the decision owner before the prototype is treated as a path to production.
